Stone Temple Pilots

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS ARE BACK!

Here are some of the new releases that come out today.

Stone Temple Pilots – Stone Temple Pilots

Purists be damned, after years of searching for a lead singer, the DeLeo Brothers, and Erik Kretz finally chose former X Factor contestant Jeff Gutt. Gutt is technically the band’s third lead singer, and the band does its best to provide you with all of the nuances you have come to either love or hate from the band.

Paradise Lost – Host Reissue

For a band that is known by most for their doom and gothic metal, it is interesting that they have decided to revisit and reissue an album that has more to do with industrial and electronic rock than 2017’s Medusa which was heralded by fans and critics alike as a return to the band’s origins. It seems as if the band wanted to remind everyone that they have no need to be limited or pigeonholed into one style of music.

Earthless – Black Heaven

The band is classified as so many things, psychedelic rock, stoner rock, a jam band, and so on and so forth. There is no denying their the band has a ton of 70s influences, a mix of things from Sabbath to Zeppelin, and a bunch of other things in between.

Black Wizard – Livin’ Oblivion

The Canadian band is more than a one-dimensional band, showing they can dip into all types of sub-genres, from stoner to doom, to thrashing it out in places, or giving you straightforward heavy metal in the vein of NWOBHM bands like Angel Witch or Witchfinder General.

King Witch – Under The Mountain

The Scottish doom band that is more than just another run-of-the-mill band doing the same old same old. Fronted by the ridiculous pipes of Laura Donnelly who sounds more like the soulful Glen Hughes than Ozzy Osbourne, riffs galore that evoke memories of not only Tony Iommi, with the soloing and pinch harmonics of John Sykes, coupled with the plumbing rhythm section of Lyle Brown and Joe Turner.

Other Releases Of Note:

The Voidz – AlieNNatioN

Rivers Of Nihil – Where Owls Know My Name

Therion – Blood Of The Dragon
