Venom, Volbeat + Jorn
As we get closer to the holidays, less and less new material come out, here is a shortlist of some releases that may interest you:
Venom – Storm The Gates
The band made up of Cronos, Rage, and Dante known as Venom, not Venom Inc. are back with Storm The Gates. This lineup has been around for a decade, and are responsible for recording the band’s last three albums, this new album, plus 2011’s Fallen Angels and 2015’s From the Very Depths. Rage was actually on 2008’s Hell, and although Dante didn’t play on the album, he joined the band for that tour. The album is classic Venom, there is no way you can mistake it for anything else. They aren’t experimenting or straying far from what got them to the dance. This album “should” please any hardcore fan of the band.
Volbeat – Let’s Boogie! Live From Telia Parken DVD/CD
The album was recorded live at Telia Parken in Copenhagen, Denmark. The show took place in August of 2017, in front of 48,250 fans, and marks the biggest show by a Danish artist. Being that it is a live album, it is a greatest hits of sorts that is chalked full of guest appearances, like fellow Dane Lars Ulrich, Mille Petrozza, Mark “Barney” Greenway, and Danko Jones among others.
Jorn – 50 Years On Earth Box Set
This is a twelve CD boxed set that celebrates Jorn’s 50th birthday, and the end of phase one of his career. It includes nine previously released studio albums, a live album, which is a combination of previous released live material, a covers album, and a bunch of previously unreleased material.
Goatwhore – A Haunting Curse Vinyl Reissue
If you’re a fan of the band, or black metal, rush out and get this limited release while you still can. It is a vinyl reissue of the band’s 2006’s release A Haunting Curse, that most fans of the genre will recognize its importance to their career and black metal alike. It is so limited that only 1,000 vinyls will be pressed, 500 root beer vinyl, 250 butter cream and 250 brown/split. The band is currently out promoting their latest album, Vengeful Ascension, but it is always cool when something like this comes out.
