SEVENDUST GUITARIST CLINT LOWERY DROPS A SOLO ALBUM
Here are some of the albums that drop today.
Clint Lowery – God Bless the Renegades
Sevendust guitarist Clint Lowery has decided to release his first solo album. It is no surprise that this sounds a lot like his main band, as he’s contributed a ton of material to the Atlanta band’s albums over the years.
A lot of side projects or solo albums seem to go one of two ways, A) I’m into more things than what you know me for or B) Although I’m not front and center all the time, I deserve more credit than I actually get. This album is definitely the latter case, not saying that’s his intent, but it definitely shows that he’s one of the main ingredients in the band.
The vocals see him taking on both Lejon, and Morgan’s parts, but handling them in his own way. Instead of his bandmates being there, it’s him either doing his best to sound like them or putting his own spin on things.
What I mean by this, is there is a distinct transition and change in his vocal stylings throughout all of the tracks. Some sound similar to what goes on in Sevendust, while other tracks have a different dynamic, and although there are vocal progressions they’re executed differently within the same structure.
The album is strong throughout, and it makes you wonder why these tracks haven’t been used on the last few Sevendust albums? A lot of the songs are stronger than the majority of tracks on some of the most recent releases by the band.
As much as I love them, it’s been a really long time since an entire album is a strong top to bottom. Don’t get me wrong, there is something great off of each album to add to my Sevendust playlist, but the majority just leaves me wanting more.
Lowery’s album makes you wonder why he doesn’t have a bigger hand in composing for the band or maybe other members needing to have less of a presence on his work? But I get it, it’s five members that have to approve something, not just one. Maybe they should listen to him more? In any event, this is a must-have for anyone that’s a fan of Clint’s previous work.
Butcher – 666 Goats Carry My Chariot
This is the first time I’ve come across this Belgian band. They’ve been around since 2002 but didn’t release their first album until 2017’s Bestial Fükkin’ Warmachine. If you’re a fan of Motorhead, Mercyful Fate, NWOBHM, or retro-sounding metal bands in general, check them out.
Lordi – Killection
The Finish band is best known for winning Eurovision in 2006 with their track “Hard Rock Hallelujah”. For all intents and purposes, this album is a fictional compilation of supposed hits that were recorded between the 70s up to the mid-90s, with your typical new song attached. This happens to be the band’s tenth album and is recommended to anyone that has enjoyed the band’s previous releases.
Here are some other releases that come out today and may peek your interest.
