The Night Flight Orchestra Aeromatic

THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA RETURN

Here are some of the hard rock and metal albums that drop today:

The Night Flight Orchestra – Aeromantic

This is album number five by the band. It is greatly anticipated by those that have enjoyed what the band has offered so far. They kind of established their formula on 2012’s Internal Affairs, and have not veered that far off course since.

If you’ve enjoyed their releases, then you’ll like this album. If you’re still looking for them to get heavier in the vein of Soilwork or Arch Enemy, then you still haven’t learned your lesson and figured out what this band is all about.

A few weeks back we posted about the track “Divinyls” check out the video for the track “Transmissions” here:

Wishbone Ash – Coat of Arms

Here is a band that’s been around for five decades in one form or another.  Lead singer-guitarist Andy Powell has been with the band from the start, their one constant.

He’s been the ship’s rudder as they’ve meandered between hard rock, blues rock, and some progressive outings as well.  The band has been named as an influence by several big-name bands, as they were very popular in the rock world throughout the 70s when a lot of players were first picking up their instruments.

This is the band’s twenty-fifth release, the first with Mark Abrahams on guitar.

Shakra – Mad World

Various members of the band have appeared on Talking Metal over the years. The Swiss band has been around since 1997. This is their twelfth studio album, their first since 2017’s Snakes & Ladders.

If you’ve never heard of the band, the video below will demonstrate their brand of hard rock, which mixes elements of the 80s with a more modern feel. Hook laden melodies, with great musicianship, while leveraging 2020 production values.

Toundra – Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari

This is an instrumental progressive rock band from Spain. They have been making a name for themselves throughout Europe these last few years. Their latest album is based on a German silent film, a horror film to be exact.

This may not be for everyone, as it contains no vocals, and is a bit Avant Gardish. That said, the band offers a lot of twists and turns to their music, so putting their music into a film makes complete sense.
