L.A. GUNS IS BACK WITH A NEW SINGLE

L.A. Guns is a band that in my opinion never received their just do.  Sure, “The Ballad Of Jayne” and “Never Enough” were on dial MTV.

Their second album Cocked N Loaded, is without a doubt their biggest selling album.  But does commercial success always equal the best album?

To me, their self-titled debut should be in the conversation with Van Halen’s self-titled debut, and Guns N Roses Appetite For Destruction when it comes to discussing the best hard rock and metal albums to come from an L.A. band.

But, we’re here to talk about their new single, “Crawl”.  Yes, there are two versions of the band, one that features Phil Lewis, and Tracii Guns.

And this version, which is spearheaded by Steve Riley, the band’s long-time drummer.  Rounding out the Riley version of the band is Kelly Nickels on bass, he was part of most would consider the “classic” lineup of the band.

Scotty Griffin on lead guitar, he’s actually been in and out of the band over the years.  But, as a bass player.

Their newest member, member number seven thousand, two hundred and eighty-seven, is Kurt Frohlich.  He joins the band as their lead singer and rhythm guitarist.  He’s best known for his work with Sin City Sinners, and Faster Pussycat.

What’s in the name?  Here’s where things get tricky.  We have all heard that any kind of press is good press.  So long as both versions of L.A. Guns are firing shots at one another, they’re keeping the name of the band on all of the websites that tend to post about them.

Essentially helping both camps.  But who owns the name, and pays for the copyright?  According to Kelly Nickels, Steve Riley has been paying for the name for a very long time now.  At least that’s what he told Mark Strigl during episode 858 of Talking Metal.

I’ve got to tell you, I actually enjoy “Crawl”.  To be honest, I love both versions of the band.  There is very little over the years that the band has released that I’m not into.

Man In The Moon and American Hardcore are probably the two albums I reach for the least.  I really like the title track to Man In The Moon, but there is nothing else on that album that I enjoy.  Just my weird taste in music.  Looking forward to the release of the album Renegades.
