Firewind Welcome To The Empire

FIREWIND RELEASE A VIDEO FOR “WELCOME TO THE EMPIRE”

Firewind, the brainchild of Greek guitarist Gus G. is about to release a new album on May 15th. The self-titled album Firewind, will mark the ninth studio album by the band.

It is unfortunate that some fickle music fans will only see him as the guy that played on that one Ozzy album (Scream). He’s actually one of the most prolific guitarists of the last two decades.

He has released studio or live albums by Firewind, solo as Gus G., Dream Evil, Mystic Prophecy, and Nightrage. He’s played on the Ozzy album or guest appeared on more than 25 releases since the turn of the century.   As far as I can tell, he didn’t release anything in 2016 or 2019. Not to say he wasn’t busy, but they are the only two years where he didn’t play on anything that came out.

FIREWIND’S SELF TITLED ALBUM DROPS MAY 15TH

Firewind marks the debut of Herbie Langhans as lead singer of the band. He is best known for his work with bands like Avantasia, Rhapsody Of Fire, Mob Rules, and Kamelot.

Here is what Gus G. had to say about the video:

“Welcome To The Empire” is the opening track of the album and an obvious choice for a single. Making the video was an ongoing work in progress as we filmed the band performance back in January.

However, we wanted to blend in futuristic visual effects for the story. As I’m a huge sci-fi movie fan, I wanted to incorporate something along those lines. Our director Panagiotis Kountouras came up with the concept. We collaborated with MDP, a VFX company out of Hollywood, CA.”

Gus continues:

“The story is set in a dystopia, where humanity has been surrendered to the New World Order. Two cyborgs are playing with the future of mankind in a chess game. Each move has consequences and technology will be the only winner. It was a really challenging production, but we love the end result. We hope you will too!”
