KORN RELEASES CHARLIE DANIELS BAND COVER ALL PROCEEDS GO TO AWAKENING YOUTH
Korn have shared their cover of the Charlie Daniels Band classic “The Devil Went Down To Georgia”. The track features rapper Yelawolf, and it has been released exclusively on Bandcamp. The track was recorded during the sessions for The Nothing as a tribute to Charlie Daniels.
This is what lead singer Jonathan Davis had to say about the track:
“I’ve always said it, but country music is some of the darkest ever. Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, and, of course, Charlie Daniels all turned pain into some really powerful music that sounded alive. ‘The Devil Went Down To Georgia’ is a classic story, and we wanted to release it now to help others in need.”
Helping the band out on the track is Yelawolf, he and Davis go back and forth during the song portraying the classic duel between Johnny and the Devil.
The band has decided once again to work with Awakening Youth. The non-profit organization was featured heavily during the documentary about Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch called LOUD KRAZY LOVE. They help at-risk young men and women that have recently lost a parent. They provide individual support, encouragement, and motivation with the goal of helping restore their family.
