KREATOR ARE BACK
Mille Petrozza and his band Kreator is back after a five-year break with Hate Über Alles. This is the band’s first album since 2017’s Gods Of Violence. It is also the first album to feature new bassist Frédéric Leclercq. He is best known for his time in DragonForce.
So is a Hate Über Alles an album that benefitted from the band’s time off?
This is album number fifteen, their first since 2017’s Gods Of Violence.
Arthur Rizk is the producer on Hate Über Alles.
The band is currently on Nuclear Blast.
They started in 1982, forty years ago.
Kreator has at least in my mind led the European thrash assault for several decades. They haven’t always been the most original band, as they’ve followed some trends along the way. But do you necessarily have to be original to be entertaining?
Hate Über Alles is good, really good. You could argue that it is one of the band’s best albums. Again, they aren’t reinventing the wheel here. They’re taking what they’re mainly known for, which is old-school thrash and fusing it with elements of other styles of metal. Instead of just trying to relive the past, the album is brought together using a modern production style. This makes the album sound both fresh, and classic at the same time. The album is so strong that it may be a letdown for new listeners discovering their catalog and realizing that some of their previous releases are nowhere near as good.
The band has always released good songs, and every album has some good tracks on them. But they have released very few albums over the years that are as good as Hate Über Alles.
I expect this album to be on many people’s year-end lists.
Here is Kreator with the track "Become Immortal" off of their latest album Hate Über Alles.
