New Releases: July 22, 2022 – Resistance

Resistance - Skulls Of My Enemy

RESISTANCE RETURN WITH ALBUM NUMBER FOUR

This is album number four for the Los Angeles-based band Resistance. Members of the band have been playing together in several other bands over the last few decades, most notably Heathen. Heathen is one of these bands that I had always heard about but never reached the status of say a Flotsam And Jetsam. But much like the aforementioned band from Arizona, they have delivered with their new album Skulls Of My Enemy.

Skulls Of My Enemy is an entertaining album from start to finish. It takes elements of classic 70s and 80s heavy metal, sprinkles in some thrash, and a few more modern aspects of metal along the way. Resistance is a heavy metal band that can slot into any of your classic heavy metal playlists, and you’d never realize the album just came out. A lot of these types of bands don’t sonically sound good, but Resistance brings it with a mix of an old-school sound coupled with a modern clear production style.

This is album number four, their first since 2017’s Metal Machine.

The band is currently on Pure Steel Records.

Under the name Resistance, they’ve been together since 2022. But members of the band have been in Heathen together, Caustic Visage, and Anarchy Divine. Certain members of the band have been together since 1987.

If you’re a fan of bands labeled NWOBHM or NWOTHM, Resistance is a band you must check out. The band isn’t doing anything revolutionary, but like I tend to say, they don’t have to so long as the tracks are good, and entertain you. They’re serving up some classic metal tunes, that like I mentioned above can easily be mixed in with some of those classic heavy metal tracks from the late 70s and early 80s that you love.

Here is Resistance with the track "On Dragon Wings" off of their latest album Skulls Of My Enemy.
